STREET MACHINE MAGAZINE

DESIGN | ART DIRECTION | MERCHANDISE

I worked full time as the Art Director for Street Machine Magazine from 2013-15 before moving to Los Angeles from Australia. During that time, I was responsible for designing the cover end to end each month, pre-press management, handling extra issues and specials we did, as well as creating all branded content, marketing materials, social material, merchandise, and everything else that came out of Street Machine with their logo on it.
I continue to do work for them on a freelance basis. I’ve written countless feature articles and web stories for them, photographed cars and events from around America, and handled layout designs when needed. For the last ~3 years I have Art Directed and designed the cover of the magazine each month, liaising with photographers and the editorial team to develop striking covers and push the boundaries of what’s expected from the magazine as we strive to keep standing out on the newsstand.
Many of the graphic styles, rules, templates and other formulas I developed are still either used today or have been improved upon by me since then. I’ve guided the magazine remotely through typographic style refreshes, a new masthead design, changes in print formatting and dimensions, the list goes on.
