Lowrider Roll Models is a respected documentary series by Lowrider Magazine, presented by Quaker State. The partnership allowed for dozens of stories about the Lowrider community to be told over 5 seasons of the show. The show’s core message is to shed light on the true goodness of people in the Lowrider community. I was brought on to Direct the final season of the show, where our team was able to give it a new lease on life after it had stagnated in views.
Under my direction we put more effort into showing off the cars, using jibs and camera car rigs to make the paint, chrome and custom details stand out – this helped hook die-hard car enthusiasts early on, who would come for the cars then stay for the story. We delved deeper into each person’s history, focusing on the struggles and hardships they encountered, allowing us to bring a larger emotional arc into the storytelling. Our improved formula lengthened the episodes slightly, but they were more rich in visuals and storytelling that despite it, the online views rose significantly.
